She worked at The New York Public Library for over 20 years; she has been in Truman for 2.5
years. In her time at Truman, she revamped the library from furniture, to paint, and books. In
2022, students advocated for a library club, which then later became the Library Advisory
Board. The library provides a space for students to come after school to engage in various
activities in collaboration with NYPL, to study, read a book, or socialize with friends. The library
also provides the DMV learner’s permit exam for students. One of Elizabeth’s most remarkable
achievements is her initiative in bringing authors to the school. Recognizing the profound
impact that meeting a real-life author can have on students, she has organized numerous
author visits, enriching the curriculum and providing students with unforgettable experiences.
These visits not only ignite a passion for reading but also offer students valuable insights into
the writing process, creativity, and the power of storytelling. Elizabeth collaborates with
teachers and staff throughout the school building. Whether it’s designing research projects or
curating booklists tailored to classroom themes, she is always ready to support educators in
their quest to inspire and educate the students. Elizabeth is grateful for the support and help of
her Principal, administration, teachers, and staff. This teamwork allows the library to be a
space that provides for the academic and personal needs of the students.
